Finding a Wedding Gown
You have decided that marriage is right for you, and now you need to start thinking about your attire for that special day! There are so many decisions to make just in choosing the dress; should it be traditional in style or more modern and trendy? Should it cover your body or will you want some of your better features exposed? Regardless of the huge amount of choices, the final choice needs to be perfect for you.
Once you decide you are getting married, selecting what you are going to wear for that big day should be one of the top priorities on your list. To save on some of the wedding stress you will undoubtedly encounter, you will need to give yourself lots of time to sample lots of different dress types to work out which one is the real you.
Have you chosen to have a themed wedding? If so, this will be a major key to your wedding dress selection. Will your wedding be set outside in a sunny climate? If so, you will need to select something light and airy to keep you comfortable throughout the ceremony. Are you going for a traditional style wedding? Then you will want a white or cream dress with lots of silk and plenty of lace. Regardless of any theme to your wedding, your dress will play one of the most important parts in ensuring that the overall effect is achieved.
Another important factor is what time of year are you planning to get married. If you are getting married in the height of summer, you will not want a dress with multiple layers and full length sleeves. Your wedding should be full of happy memories from the ceremony. You do not want to be thinking about how hot you got on your wedding day but rather how hot you looked in your wedding dress.
When choosing a wedding dress, try on comfortable styles. Walk around in them, if kneeling is part of your ceremony, then kneel in the dress and be sure you are not going to be uncomfortable in your choice.
The beauty of the dress is only half of your decision-the other half is looking beautiful, happy and elegant. You cannot look happy if you are holding your breath so seams do not pop or you're itchy from the lace on your arms.
A big mistake when selecting a wedding dress is getting the size right. If you have every intention of slimming before your wedding, make sure that you get the wedding dress for the size you are now and not what you think you will be on the wedding day. It is much easier to get your dress adjusted by taking it in rather than having to try to add material if the slimming did not have the effect you were after.
With the expense of weddings, some couples try and cut back by making their own flowers, having a family member bake the wedding cake or hiring a friend to take wedding photos. Although it is okay to cut back and still have your dream wedding, don't skimp when choosing your wedding dress. If you cannot afford to hit a wedding boutique and pay their prices, try wedding consignment shops, who offer 'like new' dresses at an affordable price.
Regardless of the wedding dress you finally end up choosing, remember that you are the person that your fianc wants to marry, not the dress. The dress is only used to ensure you look your best on the day.
Once you have selected your wedding dress, keep it in the bag that it comes in and try not to take it out too often. This way you will be adding to the atmosphere as your guests see your dress for the first time as you walk down the aisle. Always make sure to not show your dress to your intended before the ceremony too as it is bad luck.
