Migraine Release Through Hypnotherapy
Even if the brain itself is not sensitive to pain, many regions of the head such as the scalp, face, mouth and throat have nerve fibers that are sensitive to pain and which can ache. Headache - or cephalgia - generally is used to describe any kind of pain that would be felt in these sensitive regions of the head.
Headaches can be divided into two groups: Primary headaches, such as stress headache, cluster headache and migraine headache, which are not associated with any illness; And Secondary headaches which are due to a disorder.
Headaches are the most frequent affection of the nervous system. Everybody will be affected by headache at one point in their life, but for 55 million Americans, it is a frequent experience. According to the World Health Organization, one in every 20 adult suffers from recurrent headaches, with females being more exposed than males.
Headaches can be severely handicapping and may very negatively affect the individuals who suffer from them. Work capacity is lessened for these individuals, which can be detrimental to their economic situation.
The ability to socialize is also diminished as the pain, or the fear thereof, sometimes makes people more moody. People who have migraine even have to always be careful about the things they eat, the things they see, and also the things they smell, as some strong or unpleasant sensations may be hurtful.
Since headaches are considered such an ordinary, harmless condition, people who experience them on a regular basis also have to face the incomprehension of their peers. This social barrier may also prevent people from getting medical attention and benefiting from an appropriate treatment. However before being treated, a headache needs to be "identified".
We have already seen that there are two main categories of headache: Primary and Secondary, each subdivided into a lot of other subcategories. Their symptoms may change as well as their causes and, obviously, the way they can be cured. That is why they have to be diagnosed by a doctor in order to be given good treatment.
Stress headache, also referred to as tension headache, is the most ordinary sort of primary headache and accounts for about 90% of headaches. It is generally seen as stress-related or related to muscular and skeletal problems in the neck.
Tension headache is mainly episodic and may last from a few minutes to a few hours, but may persist for numerous days in the most acute cases. It is generally described as a strong steady pressure, usually on both sides of the head, or encircling it, at times also affecting the neck.
Migraine is a little bit different and is thought to almost certainly have a genetic origin. Migraines occur when the brain releases painful substances, which spread around the nerves and vessels in the head. Migraine generally occurs once a month and persists for a few hours, with other symptoms such as nausea and intolerance of regular levels of light and sound.
Cluster headaches often happen frequently and do not last long. They are also extremely painful. They happen in clusters of 6 to 12 weeks and every 1 or 2 years, usually at the same time of the year. The pain is extraordinarily strong and affects the entire head, very often beginning in the eye, and then affecting the forehead, nose and mouth. It is much less common than other sorts of headache and mostly affects men.
Headaches are typically treated with over-the-counter pain medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol. A doctor could also prescribe avoiding some usual triggers such as noise or certain foods.
Caffeine, Magnesium and Vitamin B2 have also shown to be useful in order to treat migraine. Drugs are however costly and can have negative side effects, especially for people who have to take them on a regular basis. That is why you might want to think about another way of preventing and fighting the various sorts of headache.
Hypnosis and NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) were indeed proven to be effective and will help you to get rid of pain anywhere in your body, including the head, as well as trying to be more relaxed meanwhile. Stress is a very common cause of headache, and specific hypnotic techniques have been developed to get rid of both stress and headaches in a few seconds.
People who have migraine or cluster headache can generally feel the first symptoms before the pain really happens, and could learn self-hypnosis techniques to abort them before they get too painful. Hypnotists who understand how handicapping a headache can be have invented these methods.
