Arkansas' Lyon College; Worth a Look
Students looking for good small colleges might first look to New England or the Middle Atlantic region. But, there are two small colleges in Arkansas they might want to add to their lists.
One is Batesville's Lyon College, which has not yet achieved the national recognition it deserves, despite impressive rankings and the achievements of faculty and students.
Even without a big national reputation, Lyon brings in a geographically diverse, capable student body representing fifteen nations and twenty-two U.S. states.
Students can't get lost at Lyon even if they want to, with small classes and a total student body of about 500.
While some institutions have seen a substantial upturn in commuter students, the opposite is true at Lyon, where well over three out of four students live in on-campus residence halls.
Two characteristics which set Lyon apart from many of its peer schools is a campus-wide Honor Code and an exceptionally well developed, endowed international studies program.
Another distinguishing characteristic is Lyon's cost of attendance, which makes it far less expensive than most of its peers.
Lyon appears to be a good choice for students who seek a high quality, personalized educational experience in a small campus community. If that's what you're looking for, check it out.
