Alabama's One of a Kind College

Most states have a mix of small colleges, large universities, public institutions, and private ones. Some states, like Alabama, can boast that they have a truly one of a kind college.

The mission of U.S.S.A., the United States Sports Academy, located in Daphne, Alabama, is to prepare students for careers in athletics.

For the most part, the Academy serves adult learners, offering both online and on-campus degree programs.

In addition to their degree programs, USSA offers eight certificate programs in areas including, sports coaching, sports management, and fitness.

There are bachelors degree completion programs offered for students interested in sports management, coaching, and sports studies.

The Academy's graduate level offerings include a doctoral program (Ed.D.) in sports management and a master of sports science degree with a choice of five available concentrations (sports coaching, sports management, sports fitness, sports medicine, sport studies).

The Academy boasts many successful graduates. In college athletics are Iowa State's basketball coach, Greg McDermott, Texas Tech football coach, Mike Leach, TCU Women's basketball coach Jeff Mittie, and many others.

USSA graduates working in professional sports include Dennis Lindsey, Assistant General Manager of the San Antonio Spurs, and Nashville Predators Director of Hockey Operations Michael Santos.

If you would like to attend a college that puts all its focus on developing and offering programs designed to prepare students for careers in coaching, athletic administration, and other sports related careers, USSA is certainly worth a look.
