Learning to Let Go: Allowing Yourself to Outsource Work

Copyright 2006 Leased Staff Solutions

When you run your own business, your intention is to nurture it and watch it grow. You have probably always envisioned yourself stepping back a bit when things are up and running and just watching your well-oiled machine run itself. Now you are to that point and you are having a difficult time letting go. It is hard to allow anyone to be responsible for any part of your work, but if you want to continue to succeed without burning out, you will probably need to outsource some of your workload.

Decide What You Have to Be Involved In

To enable yourself to outsource work, you should look at all of the tasks that you do on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis and see which of these activities are activities someone else can do. Of course, this means that they can do it as well as you can without jeopardizing the quality of work that your clients expect. You will likely find that a good deal of the work that you do can be done by others, even if you have to train them briefly.

Realize It?s Alright to Double Check Work

While you may have a hard time letting go, remember that you can set up the way you outsource work so that you can double check all of the work that will eventually be passed on to clients. Although this should not be necessary if you choose a reliable and professional source for your work, it can be a helpful step in becoming more comfortable with the outsourcing process.

You Don?t Have To Be Stressed

If you don?t feel ready to let go and begin outsourcing work you should definitely consider your stress level. Are you stressed all of the time? Constantly working overtime? Does the quality of work suffer because you are overworked? If you can answer yes to any of these questions it is time to outsource work and get some help. A successful business is run by someone that is happy and healthy and when you are taking it all on yourself you are neither of these things.

You should be able to enjoy your earnings and when you are stressed and overworked it is impossible to do that. When you outsource work, some of the burden is taken off of your shoulders and you can begin to enjoy your business, your life, and your earnings much, much more. Outsourcing may very well be the best thing that could ever happen to your business!
