Photo Painting A Great Gift Idea
Many of us have our cherished photographs of our children, spouse, our pets, our wedding, and other special events and people we love. I want to tell you about how you can dig out your old photos to be rendered into a computer generated painting that you can use for all sorts of things.
Being a graphic designer and a amateur photographer I have always been interesting in different forms of images that can be used for print and gift ideas for the holiday's and special anniversary events. I have recently found a very cool and useful technique that is not at all new, but it is new to me.
Before I get into the specifics of the technique, I would like to first explain my background, or rather my search that lead up to this self discovery.
About a year ago I was trying to find a software program to digitally paint and sell the images. I thought if at all possible, paintings would look nice and could be used for a multitude of things from web site images, holiday greeting cards, business logo or business cards, calendars, coffee mugs, etc. I found a program in which I used for a year or so, until I found the most recent one.
Now I am painting many of my past photographs and trying different styles to get different artistic effects.
Gift Ideas
I have found that as a gift idea computer painting can be used for many different types of situations and media. to name a few events or situation, wedding photos, sporting events, birthdays, religious events, anniversary parties, family portraits, pets, landscape vacation spot, cars, trucks, motorcycles, you name it, almost anything that you cherish and that you have a good photograph, can be converted and used for gift ideas for all year around.
Let me explain a little about the process of converting a photograph into a computer generated painting. First you need to start with a good photograph. A good photograph would be a photo that has good color, is in focus (clear), and the subject matter is clearly visible and not in shadow. The process then starts with a loose rendering or painting over a cloned image copy and the background built up, loosely. Next step goes onto working out the details and bringing things together, which depends on how the finished product is to look. The finished photo could have the background out of focus, or sharp, well blended, etc.
Next, the finishing touches. here one can add texture as to simulate a paper texture or canvas. Then a computer plug-in filter could add a matte and a wooden or metal frame to make it look very much like a real framed painting.
I like the chalk and oil pastels the most, but watercolor paintings can look nice when you are going after a toned down style in detail and want that unique watercolor look. To finalize this article, I want to add that photo painting your photographs can be used for as many things as you can imagine. So the next time you are searching for a gift idea, keep this in mind.
